Red Deer athletes competing at Special Olympics Alberta-Edmonton Track Meet

Half a dozen athletes from Red Deer are among 120 competing at the Special Olympics Alberta-Edmonton Track Meet on Saturday, June 16.

The event taking place at the University of Alberta’s Foote Field is being run with the help of 50 volunteers.

Athletes and coaches taking part are from Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, St. Albert, Strathcona County and Vegreville.

Events include the 3000m, 1500m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m and 50m events, along with the standing and running long jump and shot put events as well.
