May 31, 2018 | 7:36 AM

RED DEER- Capstone at Riverlands will be busy with construction activity in 2018 as work continues on the important infrastructure needed to bring the vision for the neighbourhood to life.

Officials say this year will also see the start on some of the projects that make Capstone unique, like the Riverwalk and Canada 150 Square. Here is a look at some of the work that is planned for this year:

45 Street – In 2017, the installation of underground utilities was completed  in this area and this year workers will be back to finish building 45 Street, including the road surface, sidewalk, flex lanes (parking), street lighting, and trees. During construction, 45 Street will remain open for local access.

Alexander Way – A key gateway for Capstone, work will include installing some utilities and then rebuilding the road, including the road surface, sidewalks, flex parking lanes, street lighting, and landscaping. During construction, Alexander Way will close with detours in place.

Entryway (Carnival Cinemas) – Work in this area will include installing sidewalks, streetlights and landscaping. There will be no road closures or access impacts to Carnival Cinemas.

Canada 150 Square – Once built, Canada 150 Square will be a focal point in Capstone. Limited work will take place in 2018 with no traffic impacts.

South and North Riverwalk – A key natural feature of Capstone, the Riverwalk takes advantage of the natural features of the area. Some work will take place in 2018, but there won’t be any traffic impact; there will however be trail closures.
