Annual DIPG awareness walk and fundraiser set for this weekend
The 3rd Annual Butterfly Kisses Walk For Brain Tumor Awareness is set for this weekend, with the goal of raising thousands to be donated to families whose children are battling a form of brain tumor.
The goal of the walk is to raise awareness as well as to raise money for families whose children are battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG.)
The foundation was started by a mother whose son passed away from DIPG in 2015 at age 14, and since then the Jayden Stad Foundation has been helping families with children who are battling DIPG.
DIPG is a tumour located in the middle of the brain stem, which grow amidst the nerves and as a result are not able to be surgically removed. Children are almost exclusively affected by DIPG, and a majority don’t live past a year after diagnosis.
