The first of the victims’ funerals took place Thursday morning with a service held in Humboldt for Tyler Bieber, the team’s 29-year-old play-by-play radio announcer who was in his first season of calling games.

“Dana’s passing is another reminder that the tragedy confronting us is an ongoing tragedy,” said Moe. “The families going through this painful ordeal will need our love and support for the duration, for as long as it takes.”

Meili said it was very troubling to hear of the woman’s death.

“It reminds us that an accident happens in a moment. It’s a matter of seconds and lives are changed.”

Brons graduated from University of Regina, where she got a degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies. She also took an advanced certificate in Athletic Therapy at Mount Royal University in Calgary.

The team was on its way to a playoff game when the bus collided with a semi truck at an intersection near Tisdale, Sask.

Her family said Wednesday that Brons was very proud to be part of the Broncos team. They said she will be remembered for her smile and her love of sports. (CKRM, The Canadian Press)
