Open house in Sylvan Lake for proposed cannabis regulations

The Town of Sylvan Lake is set to unveil proposed rules and regulations for how they plan to deal with recreational cannabis once it is legalized later this year.

Officials say 793 members of the public took part in the Town’s recent online survey. Town staff has reviewed the feedback and will be presenting their proposed rules and regulations to the community at an open house next week.

Residents can hear all about proposed rules required for cannabis retail businesses operating within the municipality, as well as proposed rules related to public consumption (smoking/vaping) of cannabis.

“This Open House approach to presenting our proposed rules and regulations is an opportunity for the public not only to review, but to provide further input on the subject, prior to the Town developing Bylaw and Policy,” says Joanne Gaudet, Communications Officer for the Town of Sylvan Lake.
