U16AA Sting clinch league title

The Central Alberta Sting U16AA ringette team earned a pair of victories last weekend.

Saturday, the Sting downed the Spruce Grove Pursuit 8-5. Shaelynn Law, Hanna Gill and Hannah Murray each scored twice for the Sting.

Sunday, the Sting defeated Edmonton Elite 9-6 with Law and Carly Cherniak each netting hat tricks.

With the two victories the Sting clinched first place overall and earned the Inaugural Blackgold U16AA League Championship title. They also receive a bye into Provincials in Edmonton at the end of February.

The Central Alberta Sting U14AA lost a pair of hard fought games this past weekend to Zone 5AA in Leduc by a score of 7-3 and at home to St. Albert by an 11-4 count on Sunday.

U14AA will head to the Pacific Ring tournament in Vancouver this weekend for competition February 2-4. The Sting are the defending champions of this tournament.

The U19AA Sting won a pair of games last weekend, 3-2 in Leduc over the Zone 5 Grit 3-2 on Saturday and 8-3 over the Calgary Strive Sunday in Penhold.

McKenna Causey scored a hat trick for the Sting on Sunday.
