Murder charge laid in death of Maskwacis teen in Wetaskiwin

Westakiwin RCMP have charged a 22-year-old man with second degree murder in the death of a local teen.

Nakoda Twoyoungmen, 16, of Samson Cree Nation died late Thursday night from injuries he suffered in an altercation at a residence in Wetaskiwin. An autopsy conducted Monday in Edmonton determined his death to be a homicide.

On Friday, Matthew Alexander Lightning of Wetaskiwin was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder.

Lightning is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Wetaskiwin on Tuesday.
