Riggers win thriller, even league final series 1-1
The Red Deer Riggers used great defence and a solid pitching performance to turn the 2017 Sunburst Baseball League final into a best-of-three affair.
Josh Edwards threw 126 pitches, striking out seven batters over 7 2/3 innings as the Riggers pulled out an exciting 3-2 win over the Sherwood Park Athletics Tuesday night at Great Chief Park.
The best-of-five league final is now tied 1-1 with game three set for Wednesday at Sherwood Park.
“You know what, just coming out in the first couple of innings and attacking the [strike] zone and getting ahead of guys early,” Edwards said sparked his sterling performance. “Just battling through, it was kind of one of those games where you had to battle every inning, every at bat.”
