Suspect charged in nearly 20-year-old Calgary sexual assault

CALGARY- According to police, early one morning in August 1997, a woman was pulled into an alley where she was threatened, assaulted and later forced to walk a few blocks with a man before he fled.

Last November, a man turned himself in to the Innisfail RCMP regarding a sexual assault in the late 1990s.

He was later charged in the 1997 case.

Charles Henry Desjarlais, 54, currently serving time at the Bowden Institution on an unrelated matter, faces three charges that include sexual assault with a weapon.
