Red Deer man faces murder trial for death of Camrose woman in 2015

LEDUC – A Red Deer man facing murder charges in the death of a Camrose woman nearly two years ago has been ordered to stand trial.

Charges against Dylan Bakke, 22, and three others were announced in March 2016 following a seven month long investigation by the RCMP Edmonton Major Crimes Unit.

Mackenzie Harris, 22, was reported missing on August 1, 2015. Her remains were found in a wooded area near Calmar two days later. An autopsy determined her death to be a homicide.

Bakke, Kyle Scott of Leduc and Christopher Stein of Millet were arrested and charged with second degree murder. Bakke was also charged with committing an indignity to a human body.

A fourth person arrested and charged with second degree murder and committing an indignity to a human body cannot be identified because they were a youth at the time of Harris’ death.

Bakke was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing held this week in Leduc. His jury trial has been scheduled for June 4 – 15, 2018 in Wetaskiwin.

Scott, 31, is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin court on July 11.

A preliminary hearing for Stein, 40, is scheduled for Sept. 11 – 15, 2017 in Leduc.
