Ponoka RCMP looking for five men involved in Saturday morning incident

Jun 24, 2017 | 4:54 PM

RCMP in Ponoka are searching for five suspects they say are responsible for restraining and robbing two others early Saturday morning.

Police say around 2 a.m., they were dispatched to a home in the Morningside area. When they arrived, two residents were suffering from minor injuries as a result of an altercation that happened inside the home.

Five male suspects entered the home with a firearm, according to RCMP, and restrained the two victims before making off with five more guns, coins and one of the victims’ 1995 maroon Dodge Ram. They fled in an unknown direction.

Ponoka RCMP say this was not a random incident and believe the victims were targeted. They add that they are exhausting all resources to find the persons responsible.

The male suspects are all described as smaller in stature, one was wearing a ball cap, and two others were wearing hoodies with their faces covered.

The stolen truck is a 1995 Dodge Ram, maroon in colour, bearing Alberta license plate RAT 594. If you see it, do not approach, and call 911 immediately, RCMP say.

If you have information about this case, call the Ponoka RCMP at 403-783-4472, or call your local police detachment.  If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), by internet at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS.
