Winter Games lands grant funding for sports equipment
The 2019 Canada Winter Games has landed some provincial grant funding to help purchase equipment need to run some of the events during the Games.
On Thursday, a cheque presentation took place with Red Deer – North MLA Kim Schreiner, 2019 Games Board Chair Lyn Radford, 2019 Games CEO Scott Robinson and representatives from judo and gymnastics.
They celebrated the 2019 Games receiving a $48,000 Community Initiatives Program grant cheque from Alberta Culture and Tourism. The money will go towards purchasing gymnastic and judo equipment for the Games and is the first of many 2019 Games sport legacies that will be left in the community following the Games.
“We’ll have a process for when we buy things and bring things in, whether it’s sports equipment or other things, we’ll have a process by which we’ll give them to the community where the need is,” said Robinson.
