Canada’s Andre De Grasse wins 100 metres at Bislett Games Diamond League meet
OSLO — Canada’s Andre De Grasse sprinted to another Diamond League victory, winning the 100 metres at the Bislett Games on Thursday.
The 22-year-old from Markham, Ont., was slow out of the blocks but breezed past the field to cross in 10.01 seconds, edging Chijindu Ujah of Great Britain by one one-hundredth of a second.
“It felt good, weather was great. I ran my season’s best (time),” De Grasse said. “I hope it will continue in Stockholm and I will be able to get my sub-10 before the Canadian trials (July 3-9 in Ottawa). Yes, it was very close so I must look at the race. For sure I can improve my start.”
Ben Youssef Meite of Ivory Coast was third in 10.03. Aaron Brown of Toronto was fifth in 10.15.
