Two are in custody after being arrested by Sylvan Lake RCMP for possessing a large amount of stolen ID.

Mounties conducted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle on 50 Street around 8 a.m. on Thursday. Police noticed a weapon in plain sight inside the vehicle, which led to the search that discovered a number of various pin pads and stolen identification documents.

The documents included driver’s licenses, insurance cards, credit cards, birth certificates, firearm licenses and cheques.

An adult male and female, both of no fixed address, were taken into custody and are facing numerous charges. Meanwhile, RCMP are trying to return the stolen documents to their rightful owners.

Sylvan Lake Mounties are also taking this opportunity to remind residents to not leave ID in their vehicles and also to ensure you’ve locked your vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
