Rebels open playoffs with shutout loss in Lethbridge
It was a disappointing start to the 2018 WHL playoffs for the Red Deer Rebels in Lethbridge Friday night.
The hometown Hurricanes handed it to Red Deer 6-0 to take a 1-0 best of seven series lead over the visiting Rebels.
Both teams were held scoreless after twenty minutes but things opened up in the second when Lethbridge got on the board first with a goal from Taylor Ross at 3:01 on the power play following a holding penalty to Red Deer’s Dawson Barteaux.
The Canes then went up 2-0 just over five minutes later when Tate Olson scored at 8:23 to pick up his first goal of the playoffs as well.
