City testing mass notification system on Tuesday

The City of Red Deer will be testing its mass notification system, Notify Red Deer, on Tuesday, August 29.

The test will involve sending a message to all contacts in the Notify Red Deer system, including phone numbers registered in the White Pages.

Notify Red Deer is used to send critical information to residents in the event of an emergency or unfolding situation, and test events help The City and residents prepare for such events.

Residents are asked to sign up and update their Notify Red Deer profile before Tuesday.

When signing up, individuals can choose their preferred method to receive alerts; text, email or phone call and which addresses in the city they want to receive alerts for. Notifications that are sent by text and email are received faster than phone calls.
