Oct 5, 2022 | 12:34 PM

The latest RDP Athletes of the Week are here.

Alisha Coules – Queens Soccer
Hometown – Stettler, AB
Bachelor of Science Nursing (4th year)

Alisha Coules had a tremendous weekend on the pitch for the first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team (6-1-0), contributing two goals and an assist. The Bachelor of Science Nursing student played an integral role in helping the Queens pick up a pair of road victories, including against the second ranked women’s soccer team in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) – the SAIT Trojans (6-1-0). In Saturday’s 4-2 victory over the Olds College Broncos, the talented forward contributed two goals and provided valuable leadership on and off the field. Then on Sunday, the Queens captain assisted on the team’s second goal, which turned out to be the game winner in a 2-1 decision over the Trojans. The SAIT Trojans began this year with six consecutive regular season victories after winning 2021/2022 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) gold.

Jared St. Thomas – Kings Soccer
Hometown – Lacombe, AB
Kinesiology Fitness and Health (2nd year)

Goalkeeper Jared St. Thomas was outstanding as the last line of defence for the third place Kings Soccer team (2-1-3) in a pair of weekend ties against the Olds College Broncos (1-1-3) and SAIT Trojans (5-0-1). He recorded a total of 17 saves in the road games. The second-year Kinesiology Fitness and Health student played incredibly well in Olds, making nine saves and helping the Kings pick up a 1-1 tie on Saturday. For his memorable performance, Lacombe’s St. Thomas was named the Kings Player of the Game. Against the most potent offence in ACAC Men’s Soccer, St. Thomas shone against the Trojans. He made eight saves and helped the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings play to a 1-1 draw and earn an important point against the first place squad in the south.
