COVID-19 testing & immunization centre scales down

Red Deer’s COVID-19 assessment centre closed; testing moved to mobile unit

Jun 27, 2022 | 4:26 PM

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced that Red Deer’s COVID-19 assessment centre (1780 49 Ave) is now closed and testing is available at a mobile unit located at 28 Michener Street.

Officials say as demand for COVID-19 testing continues to decrease across the Central Zone, and with eligible individuals limited to high-risk groups, AHS is continuing its phased approach to transitioning COVID-19 testing and immunization away from stand-alone centres.

AHS confirms appointments will continue to be scheduled online, with instructions and site details provided when booking: COVID-19 Assessment & Testing | Alberta Health Services.

They say at-home use of rapid antigen testing kits is encouraged for clients who are symptomatic and is an option for clients who are eligible to book a PCR test online or as the alternative for clients who are ineligible for PCR testing. Kits remain free of charge and are available at pharmacies.
