Red Deer down to 44 active cases of COVID-19

Red Deer is down to 44 active cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, according to the latest numbers from the province.

That’s down three from Wednesday’s total of 47, and is the lowest total since Oct. 29.

Recoveries are up seven to 5,672 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose four to 5,757.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 41, with the last one reported June 22.

According to the provincial vaccination map, 57,953 (+130) people in Red Deer have received one dose of vaccine, while 31,317 (+1,033) are fully vaccinated.

The Central Zone as a whole has 159 active cases as of Thursday, down 16, with 19 hospitalizations, down one, and five people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, down one. The Central Zone has had 166 deaths linked to COVID-19, with none reported today.

Across Alberta, another 73 cases of COVID-19 were announced Thursday out of 5,715 test results for a positivity rate of ~1,3 per cent.

Active cases across the province are down to 1,580, a one-day decrease of 96.

There are 190 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, down nine, including 50 in intensive care, down six.

One new death linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day to bring the province’s total to 2,293.

· Date of death: June 23. A male in his 70s in Calgary Zone. The case included comorbidities.

As of June 23, 3,963,419 doses have been administered in Alberta. 71.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12-plus have now received at least one dose, and 33 per cent are fully vaccinated with two doses.
