Sylvan Lake reopening public washrooms this weekend

May 29, 2020 | 3:09 PM

The Town of Sylvan Lake is reopening some of its public washrooms located along the waterfront (Sylvan Lake Park).

Mayor Sean McIntyre says the town’s emergency operations centre is fast-tracking the move in response to the growing number of people that are visiting Sylvan Lake.

“This weekend, washrooms one and two will be open for use, and washrooms will also be available for use in Centennial Park,” McIntyre said in a video update posted Friday on Facebook.

“We’ve hired a team to work specifically at regularly cleaning and sanitizing these facilities, which will mean periodic 20 minute closures to allow these teams a safe place to conduct their work,” says McIntyre.

Public parking lots in Sylvan Lake Park will remain closed at this. McIntyre says the plan is to reopen them when the town moves on to phase two of Sylvan Lake’s relaunch plan in the next couple of weeks.

“This is one of the best tools we have in asking would be visitors to stay home for now,” McIntyre explained.
