Thousands of Red Deerians stopped by the Parkland Mall on Saturday to get a closer look at the programs and services offered by The City of Red Deer and other community organizations.
The annual ‘Let’s Talk’ also allowed residents to chat one on one with Mayor Tara Veer, City Councillors, City Manager Craig Curtis and other staff representing over 25 City departments and community agencies.
Veer feels the event is incredibly important.
“As part of our commitment to providing open and transparent government, it’s important that we go to the people, that we’re interacting with the people that we represent on a regular basis, so that we can hear up close and personal what their issues and concerns are.”
Veer added, “I always think that having conversations with Red Deerians, hearing feedback face-to-face, always conveys just how meaningful it is."
City Manager Craig Curtis says ‘Let’s Talk’ gives City staff a great opportunity to explain to residents why some things are done the way they are.
“Overall, it’s a feel-good event in which people can ask questions, get answers and issue their complaints as well."
