Long-time boxing coach steps into the ring for Golden Gloves tournament

He’s been in the corner of many of Red Deer’s top fighters for over a decade. Now he’s stepping into the ring to prove that he, too, has that it takes to succeed.

Roman Rzepowski will be competing in the Alberta Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament, May 26-27 at Westerner Park.

Alex Gerrard, 14, of Red Deer County is a competitive golfer and Gr. 9 student at Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer. He has been named the ASDC-Central Male Athlete of the Month for May.

A golfer from Red Deer County has been named the Alberta Sport Development Centre-Central (ASDC-C) Male Athlete of the Month for May.

Alex Gerrard, 14, is a grade nine student at Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer and a competitive golfer at the provincial level.

Huseby achieves career highlight with Memorial Cup assignment

As it is for players, earning your way onto the ice at the Memorial Cup is a goal for many officials across the country. 

That includes Chad Huseby, one of three WHL linesmen who’ll be making calls when the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup gets underway Friday in Regina.

Pickleball players overjoyed with council over approval of new facility site

"It's a great day to be a baby boomer," quipped Red Deer City Councillor Ken Johnston who was referring to council's long-awaited approval of a site for a new pickleball facility.

The 20-court, fence-enclosed site will be constructed at St. Joseph High School in northeast Red Deer.
