The Red Deer Rebels found their mojo Saturday night potting six goals in what was much closer to a 60-minute effort than they’ve had over the last three weeks.

Even against a team that’s lost far more than it’s won this season, Friday night’s tilt was anything but a guaranteed win for the Red Deer Rebels.

But somehow, they pulled it out -- barely -- winning 4-3 in dramatic comeback fashion against the visiting Regina Pats.

A competitive volleyball player from Red Deer has been named The Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central (ASDC-C) Athlete of the Month for November.

Riley de Wit, 17, is a volleyball player with the Lindsay Thurber Raiders and the Central Alberta Queens Volleyball Club (CAQVC).

No one with the Red Deer Rebels is making excuses, but when you go up against a team that’s won seven games in a row, you’re likely going to have a tough night.

On Saturday, the Rebels had just that kind of night, losing 3-2 to the Moose Jaw Warriors while being outshot 46-18.

On the strength of an opportunistic first period, the Red Deer Rebels no longer have to say they’re on a losing streak.

Red Deer defeated division rival Calgary 6-2 on Friday, and improve to 5-0 against the Hitmen this season.
