The RDC Queens head to Camrose this week for the ACAC Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The Queens will kick off the tournament by facing the NAIT Ooks Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
In the regular season, the Queens placed second in the south and the Ooks finished third in the north. Both teams went 7-3 in their final ten regular season matches.
The Queens finished off conference play by soundly defeating the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in a pair of three set sweeps.
Thursday, the Ambrose University Lions will face the Lakeland College Rustlers at 3:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., the Lethbridge College Kodiaks will compete against The King’s University Eagles. The host University of Alberta Augustana Vikings will play the Briercrest College Clippers at 8:00 p.m.
Friday’s opponent and game time will be determined by the results on Thursday.
RDC Queens Hockey will open their best of three playoff series on the road against the NAIT Ooks.
The two teams split their six games (3-3) in the regular season.
The Queens have momentum after sweeping the latest series against the Ooks. The RDC Queens have one of the best goaltenders in ACAC Women’s Hockey and Tracie Kikuchi finished the regular season with the second best save percentage (0.945) in the league.
Game one of the series goes Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Collicutt Centre. Game two goes Sunday at NAIT. If necessary, game three of the series will also be played in Edmonton.
The MacEwan University Griffins will play the Olds College Broncos in the other series.
