Rourke finished the night completing 22 of 28 passes for 355 yards and one interception. He threw a 23-yard touchdown to Jevon Cottoy and a four-yard toss for a major to Keon Hatcher Sr.

Running back Zander Horvath also scored on a one-yard plunge.

A crowd of 30,083 at BC Place Stadium watched the Lions win their fourth straight game to improve to 5-5 and move into a third-place tie with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL's West Division.

Sean Whyte kicked field goals of 25, 35 and 44 yards.

The Riders were their own worst enemy, giving up turnovers and taking costly penalties. Saskatchewan was flagged for seven penalties for 72 yards.

Riders quarterback Trevor Harris completed 28 of 42 passes for 356 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He connected with Dhel Duncan-Busby on a 32-yard scoring play in the fourth quarter.

Alex Hale hit on field goals of 47, 25 and 24 yards.

It was the second consecutive loss for the defending Grey Cup champion Roughriders, who remain in second place with a 6-4 record.

The Lions took control of the game with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns.

B.C. went ahead 20-3 with just over six minutes gone in the quarter when Rourke found Hatcher alone in the end zone. The touchdown was set up after a scrambling Rourke threw to an open Horvath on the sideline for a 33-yard gain.

A brilliant catch by Stanley Berryhill set up the next Lions touchdown. Berryhill caught the ball between two Saskatchewan defenders then rambled 58 yards. Horvath’s touchdown was his seventh in the last four games, with six of them coming on the ground.

The Lions scored the game’s first touchdown with just over three minutes gone in the second quarter. Running back James Butler started the drive with a bruising 13-yard ramble. Cottoy made a 24-yard catch before Rourke spotted him alone in the end zone for a 13-6 lead.

Turnovers and penalties cost the Riders at least two touchdowns in the second quarter.

Saskatchewan was moving the ball on the possession after the Lions touchdown when Harris looked for slotback KeeSean Johnson in the end zone. The pass was underthrown, allowing T. J. Lee to record the interception.

Later, Saskatchewan looked to have tied the game but a 49-yard pass and run to Quali Conley was called back due to an illegal block penalty.

On the next series Harris hit Johnny Johnson III for a 36-yard gain, but Lions defensive back Deontai Williams stripped the ball away, giving B.C. another turnover.

Early in the third quarter the Riders thought they had recovered a fumbled punt for a touchdown, but the play was called back for a no-yards penalty. A few plays later a Saskatchewan interception as wiped out by an offside penalty.

Later in the third Saskatchewan drove to the B.C. 25-yard line but the drive was snuffed out by an interception.

The Riders cut the lead to 27-13 after a Jaxon Ford interception gave them the ball on their own 37. Saskatchewan drove the field with Harris hitting Duncan-Busby for the touchdown.

The 25-year-old from Japan won the CPKC Women's Open in Edmonton on Sunday.

Yamashita claimed her fourth LPGA Tour victory and second this year with a dominating performance at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club.

She shot a 4-under-par 66 in Sunday's fourth round to finish 23 under in the US$2.75-million tournament.

Leading by six strokes after three rounds, Yamashita won by nine over her countrywoman and runner-up Yuri Yoshida at 14 under.

"I'm really happy to win in Canada," Yamashita said through an interpreter. "A lot of people came out to support me and I was able to enjoy playing today and then throughout the week."

The four-foot-11 Yamashita took the Meijer LPGA Classic in June in Michigan after winning the Women's British Open and Maybank Championship in 2025 to earn rookie of the year.

Yamashita became the fastest Japanese player to reach four LPGA wins and her four-day score of 257 in Edmonton tied the lowest all time on the LPGA Tour.

Vancouver's Anna Huang posted a 5-under 65 to finish at 12-under par as the top Canadian in a tie for fourth.

Calgary's Aphrodite Deng finished with a 69 to get to 11 under and tied for seventh. She was the low amateur in the tournament for a second straight year.

Two-time winner Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., turned in an even par 70 in the final round to finish at 7 under in a tie for 13th.

"It's amazing to see so many Maple Leafs at the top of the leaderboard," Henderson said. "It's really cool to see that and to be a part of it, and I feel like the future is really bright for the next few years."

The 17-year-old Huang claimed her fourth European Tour win in 11 months in early August, and became the youngest to win four. She made the cut at the CPKC Women's Open after two previous tries.

"It just means so much to me to be back home, play in front of home crowds," Huang said. "I had a lot of fun this week and I gained a lot of valuable experience.

"To make a cut at any LPGA event is really special and then to play so well as I did this week at the Canadian Open is just really, really awesome. I'm really happy that I played well in front of the best in the world and hopefully I can continue doing that."

Top-10 results for Huang and Deng give both entry into the LPGA's FM Championship starting Thursday at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.

"The most important thing is that simple golf is the best golf," Huang said. "Even if you think you're playing some really boring golf, it's always a good day just because you're hitting fairways and greens."

World No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States shot 69 on Sunday to finish 1 under for the tourney.

Yamashita set an early cracking pace in the tournament that neither Henderson nor the rest of the field could match.

The 28-year-old Henderson, who owns 14 tour wins, hit into the unforgiving rough a few too many times and needed more birdie putts to fall for her over the four days to mount a challenge.

"It was a great week overall," Henderson said. "I'll hang on to the top 15, so hopefully that'll be the case and move onto next week.

"I hit the ball really well this week. I feel like I didn't get everything out of it that maybe I should have. But that's really exciting going forward knowing that my ball striking is in a good spot and in four days I get to try again and tee it up again in Boston and hopefully make some putts and go low there."

Michelle Xing, an 18-year-old amateur from Richmond Hill, Ont., was 6 under after her front nine Sunday and went 3 under in the tournament.

Savannah Grewal of Mississauga, Ont., and 16-year-old amateur Clairey Lin of Langley, B.C., both finished 3-over par. Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., was 4 over.

The 2027 CPKC Women's Open will be at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club in Gatineau, Que.

Jackie Young added 21 points for the Aces (26-13), who have locked up their playoff spot but remain five games back of the league-leading Minnesota Lynx.

The 55-year-old golfer from New Zealand beat South Korea’s Y.E. Yang in a one-hole playoff Sunday to win his second PGA Tour Champions event of the season and the 12th of his career.

“You never like to see someone make bogey,” said Alker in regards to Yang, who needed two shots to hit his ball out of the hazard in front of the par-5, 18th hole at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club.

After Yang two putted for bogey, Alker rolled in a seven-foot putt for birdie before fist pumping to celebrate his playoff win in front of the fans gathered around the finishing hole.

“It was great,” said Alker, who finished in a tie for fifth at last year’s tournament and in sixth the year before. “There’s no pressure, though. I had two putts to win, so I think the putt becomes a little bit easier after that.”

Yang carded a final round of 7-under 63 to take the clubhouse lead before Alker shot 65 to tie him for the 54-hole lead at 16 under.

Alker had a chance to win the tournament on the final hole, but he missed a lengthy birdie putt with Yang looking on from the clubhouse.

“I had a chance in regulation,” said Alker, who had a great drive before hitting his second shot over the green. “I had a flush 5 iron, but I just pulled it left of my target and then the chip wasn’t very good, so it was kind of a sloppy finish with 5 irons into the green, but I got it done. What can you say? You just try and find a way to get it done.”

Alker had two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine of the par-70, 7,086-yard course before getting hot with five birdies in a six-hole span from the 11th to the 16th hole.

“Yesterday I shot 6 under (on the back nine) and I was kind of thinking about that,” Alker said. “There’s birdies out here to be made. I had a nice stretch there. Those are not easy holes, so birdies there were great and kind of got me on a positive note.”

Yang had one birdie on the front nine before adding six more on the back, including a tap-in on the final hole to take the lead.

Americans Jerry Kelly and Zach Johnson, who shot 63 and 65 respectively on Sunday, finished in a tie for third at 15 under, two shots ahead of a group of four golfers that included defending champion Richard Green.

Mike Weir of Bright’s Grove, Ont., carded his second-straight round of 66 to finish as the top Canadian at 11 under.

After watching Steve Flesch chip in for eagle from behind the green on 18, Weir tried to replicate his playing partner’s shot from almost the same spot.

“Almost,” said Weir after his eagle chip came up just short.

Nonetheless, he tapped in the birdie putt to move into a six-way tie for 14th place, which is his best showing at the tournament since finishing in a tie for ninth in 2021.

“It was a good finish to birdie 17 and 18 to finish off the week,” said Weir, who had five birdies and one bogey in his final round. “I played well enough to be really in contention this week, just the flat stick was a little cold.

“Overall, I played solid. It was my best finish of the year so far, so it was very encouraging. A lot of good things to take away from this week.”

Weir will play in next weekend’s The Ally Challenge at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich.

“Next week’s a home game kind of for me,” he said. “My family’s real close by, only an hour away. I have a lot of friends and family there, too.”

Weir will then take a week off before taking part in his favourite event of the season, the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links from Sept. 18 to 20.

Fellow Canadian Stephen Ames had a good start to his round on Sunday with four birdies in his first six holes on his way to shooting 65 to get him to 8 under.

“I’m glad he played well today,” said Weir of his fellow Canadian Golf Hall of Famer. “He got off to a slow start (at the tournament), but good for him today.”

Calgary’s Wes Martin shot 71 on Sunday to finish well back of the leaders at 3 over.

Clark won for the third time this year, putting him squarely in the conversation for PGA Tour player of the year considering one was a major and the other was a FedEx Cup playoff event.

But just like at Shinnecock Hills, it wasn't easy.

He lost his five-shot lead to Rory McIlroy in 11 holes and it was tense down the final hour until Clark — without a birdie all day — holed a birdie putt from just outside 15 feet on the par-3 16th. McIlroy had a putt to match birdies and stayed tied and missed.

McIlroy made a mess of the par-5 17th, going from rough to bunker to bunker for a bogey, and Clark began to pull away with another birdie. He finished with a third straight birdie for style points, finishing at 17-under 263.

“It shows I'm one of the best players in the world,” Clark said. “Everyone gives me a hard time and roots for other people. Three wins in one season is my best year yet, coming off my worst season.”

Clark wasn't the only one with cause to celebrate.

Patrick Cantlay, who came in at No. 43 in the FedEx Cup, showed plenty of moxie. Four times he bounced back from a bogey with a birdie, closing with three birdies in a row for a 68 to finish runner-up and be among the top 30 in the FedEx Cup who advance to the Tour Championship.

The winner next week at East Lake captures the FedEx Cup.

“I’m coming to a golf course that I played really well at next week,” said Cantlay, who won at East Lake in 2021 to claim the FedEx Cup. “So I’m really pleased with where my game is at and I think I’m trending in the right direction.”

Also moving into the top 30 was Gary Woodland, who pulled within one shot of the lead until topping his tee shot into a creek on the ninth hole on his way to a double bogey. He closed with nine straight pars and fought back tears as he returns to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2019 while recovering from brain surgery three years ago.

He said Saturday, when he was in the final group, took a lot out of him with the noise, the energy and the drones that triggered the kind of brain activity he tries to calm. On Sunday, he tried to embrace it and pulled through with a 69 to tie for fourth.

“I tried to enjoy it," he said. “Outside of topping a ball — I haven't done that for a long time — I'm just really proud.”

McIlroy didn't make a birdie over the last seven holes after tying for the lead, closed with a 69 and finished alone in third.

Robert MacIntyre closed with a 65 and tied for seventh, enough to move him into the top 30 for a return to East Lake. Those falling out of the top 30 were Rickie Fowler, Bud Cauley and Kurt Kitayama. British Open champion Ryan Fox nailed down the final spot.

Clark didn't face near the vitriol he did at Shinnecock Hills, when the New York crowd went from pulling for Scottie Scheffler in his bid for the career Grand Slam to openly rooting against Clark. There was one voice that shouted, “Get in the bunker!” when Clark hit to the par-3 13th. Otherwise, it was a clear pro-McIlroy crowd.

That was OK with Clark. He overcame three bogeys and a state of mind where he felt like he couldn't hit the right shot or make any putt. And then he delivered his best swing — and best putt — on a 232-yard par 3 that yielded only five birdies all day.

“I wasn't really nervous. I was kind of like … out of it,” Clark said. “I was making dumb bogeys. I didn't make anything on the greens. When I made the putt on the par 3, it got me back. As much as I would have loved to run away with it, it was fun to get the juices going.

“I'm really proud of myself that I didn't let it get away.”

Clark also moved into the top six automatic spots who qualified for the Presidents Cup, joining Scheffler, Cameron Young, Russell Henley, Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker will have six picks after the Tour Championship. Cantlay surely got his attention.

Marie-Yasmine Alidou tied the game for the Roses in first-half extra time with her third goal in five games since joining Montreal from Portland of the NWSL.

Elyse Bennett put the Roses up 2-1 in the 50th minute with her league-leading 10th goal before Baucom salvaged the point for Calgary.

The Roses (9-4-4) end the week with 31 points, two behind league-leading Ottawa.

Head coach Sandy Brondello announced Sunday that the expansion team will be without guard Brittney Sykes and forward Aneesah Morrow for the remainder of the WNBA season.

Both players were injured in Toronto's 82-79 victory over the Portland Fire on Friday.

"Pretty tough luck this year, isn't it?" Brondello said before the short-handed Tempo fell 88-78 to the Las Vegas Aces in Vancouver on Sunday night.

Sykes played just one minute 31 seconds in the first quarter of Friday's matchup before exiting with a foot injury. She was in just her second game back after missing eight weeks with a left plantar fascia injury.

Morrow hurt her left knee midway through the second after getting tangled up with Fire forward Emily Engstler under the Portland basket. Morrow stayed on the hardwood for several minutes being evaluated by Tempo staff before she was carried off the court in tears.

While the ailments will keep Sykes and Morrow out of Toronto's final eight games of the season, neither will require long recoveries, Brondello said.

Guard Marina Mabrey (right adductor) did not play against Portland and Las Vegas.

The 29-year-old all star will be evaluated "in a few weeks," Brondello said, and she's unsure whether Mabrey will play again this season.

Toronto (11-26) has struggled with injuries throughout its inaugural campaign, and was also missing forwards Maria Conde (left calf) and Nyara Sabally (left calf) for Sunday's tilt against Las Vegas, leaving just eight players available.

The number was whittled to seven when point guard Julie Allemand hit her head on the floor late in the second quarter. She went to the locker room and did not return to the game.

Brondello said Allemand was still being evaluated after the game.

Limited availability has changed Brondello's coaching plans this season.

"I suppose right now makes it really easy to rotate, doesn't it? No stress there," she said. "Look, what can you do? You just go with what you can and be mindful of not overloading them. I think that's important for me.

"And sometimes there's lineups out there that typically I wouldn't have out there, but I have no other solution."

Toronto activated forward Ornella Bankole for Sunday's game.

The team signed the five-foot-11 wing to a developmental contract on June 29 after she played the 2025-26 season for Casademont Zaragoza in Spain.

The team found out on Saturday that it cannot sign any additional players to hardship contracts this season, Brondello said.

While Toronto is missing several players due to injuries and will not get them back before their final game of the season on Sept. 24, the players could technically be healthy and ready to play before the end of the WNBA playoffs, making the team ineligible for additional signings, the coach said.

Paul Blackburn (5-2) pitched two innings for the win.

Rookie Brett Bateman and Daz Cameron lifted sacrifice flies for Toronto. Kirk added an RBI single in the eighth.

Soriano allowed five runs and seven hits in five-plus innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked three.
