Adults weren't the only ones who had their say regarding the election on Monday.

More than 450 grade six students at several local schools participated in a trial election over two days last week.

The results are in -- and similar.

Tara Veer earned 88.3 per cent of the student vote, nearly identical to the real result.

In terms of city councillors, Lawrence Lee, Michael Dawe, Tanya Handley, Frank Wong, Sandra Bergeron, Buch Buchanan, Dianne Wyntjes and Ted Johnson earned nods from students.

For public school trustee positions, Nicole Buchanan, Dick Lemke, Laurette Woodward, Patrick O' Connor, Chris Woods, Cathy Peacocke and Jim Watters were elected.

Anne Marie Watson, Murray Hollman, Adriana Lagrange, Kim Pasula and Carlene Smith were given votes by Catholic schools students.

“The trial election provides students with hands-on learning about our democratic process and provides a great partnership with our local schools” said Frieda McDougall, Returning Officer.

During the trial election, students used the same equipment, ballots and vote tabulators as were used at polling stations on Election Day.
