Local accountant Chris Woods is running for a spot on the Board of Trustees for Red Deer Public Schools.
The Laebon Homes CFO told rdnewsNOW says his oldest son has autism, so he wants to help be a voice for children with special needs if elected.
He says he also brings a lot of good qualifications for the job.
“I’ve got a financial background, I’ve audited schools before, I’ve actually sat on the board for Aspire Special Needs Resources and they run a Pre-K program as well, so I’ve got the experience and I’m able to bring that to the Public School Board.”
Woods says advocating for inclusiveness and more resources to support all children in reaching their full potential are big priorities for him.
He is one of 16 candidates running for seven positions on the Red Deer Public Schools Board of Trustees.
