Anne Marie Watson is seeking re-election to the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Board of Trustees.

Born and raised in Red Deer, I attended Red Deer Catholic Schools from Grades 1-12. I attended Red Deer College and the University of Alberta, obtaining my Bachelor of Arts and attended the University of Western Ontario (now Western University), for my Master of Library and Information Science degree. I’ve worked in libraries since and have been at Red Deer College Library since 2000, currently in the role of Library Marketing & Events Coordinator.

I’ve been married to Brad Baumgarten for 25 years and we have two adult children, both graduates of Red Deer Catholic. We are parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish and I’ve been active in several ministries, such as Proclaimer of the Word, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Liturgy Committee. I have been an active community volunteer for over 35 years. Currently, I am a member of Red Deer Rotary Urban Spirits and a publicly elected member of the University of Alberta Senate.

It has been my honour to serve two terms as a Trustee and I am seeking re-election to continue the excellent work of the Board. I am a faith-filled leader with a strong understanding of governance and policy. I have proven myself to be balanced and fair, always with the desire to do what’s best for our students, families, staff, and our school communities.

With the strong and steady growth in our Division over the past several years, I will continue to advocate for new schools for our students. I will also continue to work to ensure that our schools are safe places for all students. Personally knowing the benefits of Catholic education. I will work hard to ensure the continues success of publicly-funded Catholic schools in Alberta for future generations.
