Women of Excellence Awards announces new category

The Red Deer & District Community Foundation has announced the addition of a new category for the Women of Excellence Awards Program.

The category, Women of Excellence in Construction, will be introduced at the 12th Annual Women of Excellence Awards thanks to the support of the Red Deer Construction Association (RDCA).

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize women who have displayed exceptional commitment and excellence in the field of construction within Red Deer and district says ” Kristine Bugayong, Chief Executive Officer of the Red Deer & District Community Foundation.

Gary Gies, Executive Director of the Red Deer Construction Association, says he feels the introduction of an industry based category is a necessary step in acknowledging the dedication and exceptional quality of work that women in the field of construction display.

Leah James of Central Alberta Women in Construction says that this award will not only recognize women who have been trail blazers in the industry but will inspire other women and young girls to look at the trades as an achievable career path.
