“Thriller” night returns to support The Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital

Oct 19, 2018 | 10:11 AM

On a spooky Halloween night in 2016, Red Deer experienced the horrors of its first “THRILLER” Zombie Dinner and Dance Show (including Michael Jackson of course) hosted by Common Bonds and Pound It Hip Hop Studio with the help of a group of student volunteers.

Due to popular demand, This Is THRILLER! is back from the grave as Vanessa Higgins-Nogareda dances in support of the 2019 Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off’s selected charity — The Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital. This charity provides care and comfort items to patients including equipment, supplies and services such as blood pressure monitors, milk warmers and taxi vouchers. This event is also in support of the Pound It Hip Hop Dancer Association (PIHHDA) which helps kids through dance sponsorship (tuition, workshops, competitions), specializing in the blossoming industry of street dance.

Pound It Hip Hop, home of “La Familia”, was founded in 2012 by international dancer Ricardo Martinez and Shannon Goehring. Rico and Shannon, together with PIHHDA offer worldwide exposure into top competitions and educational travel, highlighting training with international dance creators and teachers and exposure to the true hip hop culture around the globe.

At this year’s event you can come as a Zombie and expect an immersive experience in the thrill of Thriller with a Macabre Plated Dinner, ambiance lurking all around, Hip Hop Dance Show including Thriller, Invitational Hip Hop Battle with Celebrity Judges, a Last Gasp DJ Dance Party, a Grave Photo Corner, Prizes for best make-up and costume, Vacation Raffle, Silent Auction, live art and sale and 50/50. Adults only. Enter at your own risk…
