Meet Author and Illustrator Ruth Ohi

Sep 21, 2018 | 5:01 PM

Fox and Squirrel and Chicken, Pig, Cow fans, get ready to meet, hear stories and draw with author Ruth Ohi Saturday, September 29 at Red Deer Public Library’s Downtown Branch for a family-focused Alberta Culture Days Event. Ruth is an incredibly successful Canadian author of 20, and illustrator of more than 60, children’s picture books.

“We are beyond delighted to have such a popular author, talented illustrator and all around great person to be our special event for the Olson Memorial Celebration of Books this year,” says Red Deer Public Library Youth Services Coordinator Deb Isbister.

The public are invited to meet Ruth at two events: a Saturday morning storytime at 11 a.m., and, unique to this year’s tour, an afternoon youth workshop at 2 p.m., intended to get kids Grade 3 and up interested in the craft of writing and illustrating children’s books, a part of Ruth’s presentation she enjoys most.

“I love meeting the kids,” Ruth says. “I love when their faces light up when they help me doodle or begin making their own artwork during the hands-on segment.”
