RentSmart Comes to Red Deer

May 15, 2018 | 7:19 AM

RED DEER- Four million Canadians rent, 450,000 new renters enter the market each year.

Tenants want a safe, suitable, affordable home to rent; landlords want tenants to pay rent on time, and take care of their property.

Being a good tenant or a good landlord is not an innate skill.

RentSmart teaches these skills.

There are three different RentSmart Programs offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association Central Alberta.

– The RentSmart eight week certificate program.
– A one-time three hour RentSmart Basics program.
– A RentSmart program for landlords.

CMHA will offer their first program, a one time three hour RentSmart Basics course on May 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the CMHA Learning Annex at First Red Deer Place (ATB Building), Suite 404, 4911-51 Street in downtown Red Deer.

RentSmart Basics focuses on 3 Key concepts, pay rent on time and in full, quiet enjoyment and being a good neighbour, and taking care of your home.

RentSmart Basics also provides a base understanding of the related tenancy laws and finding a home.

People interested in attending RentSmart Basics on May 16, should call CMHA at 403-342-2266 to register.
