Grand opening for refreshed Lacombe Sportsplex

The City of Lacombe is pleased to invite everyone to join in the celebrations for the grand opening of the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex (5429 – 53 Street) on September 29, 2017.

The much-needed renovations ensure that the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex – a major recreational hub in the region – can better serve all user groups, and meet the long-term needs of Lacombe and area residents.

To celebrate the grand opening, the City is hosting free swimming and activities at the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre:

• 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. – Water Fitness
• 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Public Swim
• 11:15 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Low Impact Water Fitness
• 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. – Lane Swim, Parent and Tot
• 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Public Swim
• 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Mermaid/ Merman Swim (test out swimming with a tail!)
• 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Inflatables Swim
• 6 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. – Public Swim
• 7:45 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. – Water Fitness and Adult Lessons

There is free family skating in the Can Pak Arena #2 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and a Tail Gate BBQ fundraiser for Lacombe Minor Hockey from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. From 2 p.m. –5 p.m. ‘Dan the One Man Band’ will provide crazy musical entertainment throughout the facility.

There is an official grand opening and puck drop ceremony for the Lacombe Generals Hockey Game from 5 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Public admission to the ensuing hockey game is free.
