Update: Arrest made – Red Deer RCMP advise of heavy police presence

UPDATE: 1:15 p.m. May 25, 2023

Red Deer RCMP issued a heavy police presence notification Thursday morning while officers conducted a high risk arrest utilizing the Emergency Response Team  in the area of 47 a Avenue and 55 Street.

Mounties say officers were successful in making the arrest.

One male was located on outstanding warrants and taken into custody.

31-year-old Red Deer resident, Chad Wickett, was arrested for:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Possession of weapons
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Failing to comply with a release order

Red Deer RCMP are currently responding to a police incident in the area of 47 a Avenue and 55 Street.

Police are asking residents to avoid the area as it will remain blocked during the investigation. Mounties add, however, there is no immediate threat to the public.

Police ask that residents refrain from posting photos of officers on social media.

RCMP say an update will be provided when available.
