An open letter to EVERYONE after Pink Shirt Day 2017

February 24, 2017 - 1:35pm

Dear literally EVERYONE,

Bullying. I've seen it from all angles.

It's important to remember, in the days after Pink Shirt Day, that bullying doesn't and likely won't ever stop just because we had a day to 'raise awareness.'

Trust me, I firmly believe the day has value, but in a sense, it's like Remembrance Day and Bell Let's Talk Day in that as soon as those 24 hours have elapsed, we go back to our everyday lives and don't talk about the particular topic very much until another year has come and gone.

"GoHere" program making things easier for those with Crohn's and colitis

February 17, 2017 - 6:51pm Updated: February 17, 2017 - 10:42pm

It’s the age old adage: When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.

For the approximately quarter-million Canadians living with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, not to mention the many more who deal with other gut-related issues, having to go has a whole other meaning.

That’s why Crohn’s and Colitis Canada [CCC] continues to promote their GoHere campaign.

Back To You: Bryan Adams Rocks Red Deer

November 25, 2016 - 1:21pm Updated: November 25, 2016 - 5:37pm

Bryan freakin' Adams.

The Canadian is 57 years old, has been going strong for more than four decades, and he rocked the roof off of Red Deer's Enmax Centrium on Tuesday night.

Pause (for full disclosure): I don't get to too many concerts and I'm a ginormous fan of the man who's released 14 studio albums, two of which, Reckless (1984) and Waking Up The Neighbours (1991), are in the top 10 selling Canadian albums of all time. "Only two?" you ask? I was surprised too.

Anyhow, my love for Bryan arguably stretches back to the day I was born.

From Sickly to Spartan: My Journey With IBD

September 9, 2016 - 3:22pm Updated: September 10, 2016 - 7:03pm

A year ago, I would not have said I could do what I did last weekend, finish a Spartan Race.

Now let us rewind so we can connect the dots that led to the events of September 4, 2016 and which make that day significant.

Hi, my name’s Josh and I have a disease called Ulcerative Colitis, one of two illnesses under the umbrella of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or IBD. Below, we'll hopefully uncover some of the myths and misconceptions about my illness, but we certainly won't tackle all of them.
