Dreeshen: Thank You, Rona Ambrose

May 19, 2017 | 10:21 AM

As we look forward to the upcoming May Long weekend, in hopes that the good weather is not far behind, I wanted to provide you a quick update from Ottawa.

Rona Ambrose Leaves Federal Politics

On May 16th, my friend and Interim Leader of the Conservative Party Rona Ambrose announced that she is stepping down not only as leader but as Member of Parliament for Sturgeon River – Parkland.

Rona has provided tremendous value to her constituents and all Canadians over her 13 year career as an MP. She has earned the respect from all parties, the civil service, and the international community. Her passion and dedication will be sorely missed – but her impact will not be forgotten.

She has left our caucus in a strong position by focussing on what matters to Canadians. We have been the voice of the taxpayers in Ottawa and will continue her fight for jobs and the economy.

Rona’s leadership has left a tremendous impact on me on a personal level. She has inspired me with her hard work, determination, and good nature in an extremely stressful environment. I wish her the best of luck with whatever roles she decides to take in the future and look forward to continuing our friendship outside of the House of Commons.

Leadership

On May 27th, our party and our caucus will choose its new leader. We have a strong group of contenders for the position and I am looking forward to the results. Regardless of who is chosen, our caucus will remain focused on being the voice of the tax payer, fighting for Canadian jobs and growth of the economy, shedding light on government ethical breaches and mismanagement, defending our armed forces and veterans, keeping our streets and communities safe, and protecting the most vulnerable in our society.

Mobile Office Update

The next mobile office hours will be on Wednesday, May 31. Staff will be in Cremona at the FCSS building (112 Centre Street) from 10am – 12 noon and then at Carstairs Accounting Services (1122 Osler Street) from 1pm – 3pm. Contact my office or email earl.dreeshen.c1@parl.gc.ca for more information. Walk ins are welcome.

Sincerely your Member of Parliament,

Earl Dreeshen
