2019 Canada Games Torch, relay details revealed

The full extent of the first ever nationwide Canada Games Torch Relay has been unveiled.

The Roly McLenahan Canada Games Torch will be lit on October 4 in Ottawa before embarking through 48 communities on its way to Red Deer.

Council approves parking penalties increases, effective July 1

Penalties related to parking infractions are going up on July 1 in Red Deer.

City council finalized the increases Monday night. They originally granted approval to them during Operating Budget in January, but had to come back and amend the Traffic Bylaw.

Pickleball players overjoyed with council over approval of new facility site

"It's a great day to be a baby boomer," quipped Red Deer City Councillor Ken Johnston who was referring to council's long-awaited approval of a site for a new pickleball facility.

The 20-court, fence-enclosed site will be constructed at St. Joseph High School in northeast Red Deer.
