Mar 22, 2019 | 8:28 PM

A Red Deer Transit bus was involved in a crash Friday morning on the south end of the city.

Red Deer Emergency Services crews responded around 8:20 a.m. to the collision at 32 Street and Metcalf Avenue involving a bus and a truck.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, the Route 7 bus’s approximately 30 passengers, including students from Eastview Middle School, escaped unscathed. Students were put on another bus and taken to school.

“We take the safety of the public, other motorists, and our transit operators and passengers very seriously,” said George Penny, Transit Manager. “We will be looking at the circumstances surrounding the accident, and making changes if necessary. I would like to thank all staff and people involved for their speedy and professional response.”

There were significant traffic delays for morning commuters, according to a release from The City, including the closure of two westbound lanes on 32 Street.

The RCMP continue to investigate.
