Wetaskiwin’s historical Rose Country Inn destroyed by fire

WETASKIWIN- A central Alberta landmark that dates back more than a century has been destroyed by fire.

Emergency officials say the Rose Country Inn in Wetaskiwin caught fire shortly after 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Despite help from two neighbouring fire departments, the building was engulfed in flame by 8 a.m. and partially collapsed about half an hour later.

No one was injured.

CTV News says it was told three people who lived in the hotel were able to get out when they smelled smoke and called 911.
