Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report: Mar. 7 – Mar. 14

March 7

10:34 am – Drayton Valley – Tim Hortons – Employee reported a hit and run to his vehicle while parked as he was at work.

10:58 am – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Complainant reporting a suspicious angry male with a ball peen hammer. Members located the male though he no longer had the hammer. Male committed no offence and was just angry and was on his way home.

4:01 pm – Brazeau County – RR85 – Complainant attended to report a collision on RR85, work truck pulling a trailer had jackknifed causing damage.

5:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reporting that a message was written on her motel room wall indicating she was a rat. Still under investigation but not expected to challenge Alberta’s rat free status.

7:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Members attended a residence and executed a Mental Health Act warrant. A male was subsequently transported and left in care of an appropriate facility.

March 8

4:45 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported two males trying to steal a truck, was able to chase them off. Descriptors provided. The males were located and are facing a number of charges. Still under investigation.

5:50 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reporting an abandoned pickup truck, with copper wire in the bed. Under investigation but related to above incident.

7:04 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported several trucks broken into overnight and some fuel stolen. Under investigation but related to above two incidents.

6:00 am – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Staff reported that a male came in disguised with a fake beard and used a counterfeit $100 bill to buy a prepaid Visa card. Staff were able to identify the male and are providing the related video surveillance.

8:18 am – Drayton Valley, Out West Towing – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting a theft from the shop. Gate lock was cut entered the compound and took copper wire. Matter still under investigation, likely related to the Break and Enter at Rocket Express.

8:36 am – Brazeau county – Theft of truck – Complainant reporting theft of black 2006 Dodge 4 door half ton with wide load pilot lights and tool box in back. 

9:45 am – Brazeau County – Damage to property – Complainant reporting damage to well site. 

10:38 am – Drayton Valley, Wal Mart – Shoplifting – Complainant reporting shoplifting by adult male and female.

12:22 pm – Drayton Valley – Impaired Driver – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver in a silver Dodge Ram. Complainant observed the male stumbling. Members attended and located male in drivers seat. 24 hour suspension issued, vehicle towed.

1:18 pm – Brazeau County, Rocky Rapids area – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate sometime overnight.

7:06 pm – Drayton Valley, Derrick Lounge – Disturbance – Complainant reporting an intoxicated male is fighting with persons, they would like him removed.  Members attended and located male who was escorted out of the building and home.

9:58 pm – Drayton Valley, B & B Liquor – Shoplifting – Complainant reporting theft of liquor. Male approximately 25-years-old, heavy build with a black hoodie and grey sweat pants stole a bottle of rum and left without paying.

10:11 pm – Drayton Valley, Draytons Sport Lounge – Disturbance – Intoxicated male is yelling and stating he is going to drive his vehicle. Members attended and located male outside of bar, very intoxicated. Member provided a courtesy ride home.

11:30 pm – Drayton Valley, 50 Street – Impaired driving – Members were on patrol when the located a black Dodge Ram in the Boston Pizza parking lot, spinning tires. A traffic stop was conducted and male arrested for impaired driving. 

­March 9

5:44 am – Drayton Valley – Assistance – Complainant called 911 as their TV went “weird”.  Members attended, TV was fixed by the time member arrived.

6:32 pm – Brazeau County – Theft – Complainant reporting theft of two 12 volt batteries. Cabinet door appeared to have been pried open.

7:17 pm – Drayton Valley, Center Court Trailer Court – Dispute – Complainant called for assistance with room mates. Wants members to let her into residence and kick people inside out. Members attended. Documents show that the complainant sold the trailer and those that occupy the trailer now are tenants. Civil dispute.

March 10

3:25 am – Drayton Valley, Hospital – Drugs – Complainant reporting a female and male doing drugs in vehicle. Vehicle occupants had dropped off a friend who was overdosing on drugs. 

5:01 am – Drayton Valley, McDonalds Parking Lot – Impaired Driving – Member on patrol observed a vehicle in the McDonalds parking lot. Male was arrested and a 72 hour suspension given.

9:05 am – Brazeau County, area of Cynthia – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting break and enter to lease site. 

12:15 pm – Drayton Valley,  40 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting someone broke into their 2018 ford F350.  Entry made by breaking the drivers side window. Suspects stole their wallet, radar detector, ps4 console.

12:27 pm – Drayton Valley, 38 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate from vehicle.

1:04 pm – Drayton Valley, 50 Avenue – Found child – Complainant reporting they located a little girl running around. Female caught up to child and calmed her down. Shortly after a report of a missing child was received. Child was in the care of the RCMP at the time.  Child had climbed over the fence.  Both parents thought she was with the other. Child was returned.

2:42 pm – Brazeau County – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting break and enter to oilfield site.  Entry made by cutting lock on gate.  Seacan was opened.  Unknown what taken.

3:29 pm – Parkland County, Hwy 624 – Abandoned vehicle – Complainant reporting a brown honda CRV is parked at the corner of the approach for the past 12 hours. Members contacted the registered owner who advised the vehicle had broken down and they are getting a tow truck.

6:00 pm – Brazeau County – Theft of snowmobile – Complainant reporting theft of 2014 black and white Arctic Cat stolen from the back of their truck while they were parked on Hwy 620 and RR 90.

9:43 pm – Parkland County, Hwy 624 – Abandoned vehicle – Complainant reporting a small SUV is partially in the driving lane. Member attended and spoke with registered owner who advised the vehicle had broken down and they were calling a tow truck to remove.

9:47 pm – Brazeau County, RR 75 – Suspicious vehicle – Complainant reporting there is a suspicious vehicle sitting near can-vac oilfield for the past 20 minutes. Complainant concerned due to the number of break and enters. Complainant advised that vehicle left shortly after they called. 

March 11

1:33 am – Drayton Valley, 54 Street – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting they observed a male in the alley behind Summit Safety.  Male is wearing a baseball cap, red plaid shirt and blue jeans.

5:28 am – Drayton Valley, 48A Street – Animial Call – Complainant reporting seeing a deer with broken rear leg dragging itself down back alley. Member attended deer not located.

11:57 am – Drayton Valley – Fraud – Complainant reporting that hackers have accessed their WIFI. 

12:58 pm – Drayton Valley, 44 Street – Hit and Run – Complainant reporting their 2005 grey Dodge Ram 1500 was hit by what appears to be a higher vehicle with an object sticking out. Damage to hood of vehicle.

2:55 pm – Drayton Valley, Royal Bank – Fraud – Complainant reporting a man entered the bank requesting they provide him access to the cash dispensing unit. He stated he was there to fix the unit, however did not have any work order or tools.  Male was not provided access.

3:43 pm – Drayton Valley, Car Stars – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting that a vehicle was towed to their place of business. Several items had been stolen from the vehicle prior to it being towed.  

4:13 pm – Drayton Valley, St. Anthony School – Assault – Complainant reporting an assault that took place in the parking lot between two male youth. Matter is under investigation.

4:23 pm – Drayton Valley, 58 Avenue – Abandoned vehicle – Complainant reporting that three males abandoned a blue and white ford pickup in a parking stall at Cream Energy Group.  The males then left on foot.

4:33 pm – Drayton Valley, Country Style Trailer court – Family Dispute – Complainant reporting threats being received via Facebook from family member due to child custody issues.  Matter is still under investigation.

4:43 pm – Drayton Valley, Center Court Trailer court – Assault – Complainant reporting they were assaulted  a week ago.  Complainant was pushed and sprained their ankle.  Matter is still under investigation.

4:57 pm – Drayton Valley, Royal Bank – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting male from previous fraud complaint was once again at the bank. Members attended and spoke with both the suspect and complainant.  Miscommunication between bank and contract company.

5:30 pm – Drayton Valley, St. Anthony School – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a suspicious male skateboarding in front of the school, bothering a student asking for their phone. Male was belligerent with the caller when they asked him to leave. Male described as approximately 5’11” tall, slim build, wearing a black hat with white logo, black hoody, baggy blue jeans and a black back pack. Left northbound on 43 Street.

March 12

6:32 am – Drayton Valley, Home Away Inn – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of work gear in a hockey bag from their 2018 black Dodge 3500. Suspects broke the back drivers side window.

7:32 am – Drayton Valley, Foxwood Inn and Suites – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting two vehicles were broken into overnight while parked in the parking lot. Both vehicles had windows broken. Unknown items taken.

11:25 am – Drayton Valley, 52 Avenue – Fraud – Complainant reporting that they dropped their debit card after making a purchase at Valley House of Flowers.  Went back, however did not locate the card.  Complainant went on line and noted that the card had been used at several locations.

1:20 pm – Drayton Valley, 51 Street – Theft from vehicle – Complainant reporting that the side window of their gold 2006 Pontiac G6 while parked behind the Eleanor Pickup Arts Center. Stolen were a pair of prescription sunglasses.

4:46 pm – Brazeau County – Disobeying court order – Child custody issue. Complainant is reporting that ex is not allowing them to speak with child as per court order. Member spoke with both parties involved. Complainant was allowed to speak with child.

8:48 pm – Drayton Valley, McDonalds Parking Lot – Impaired Driving – Complainant reporting observing people smoking what appeared to be marihuana in a black Jeep Wrangler. Vehicle located shortly after. Driver admitted to smoking marijuana. Member advised driver of the offence.

March 13

2:27 am – Drayton Valley, 50 Avenue – Impaired Driving – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to detachment for breath tests. 

8:51 am – Drayton Valley, 50 Avenue – Landlord Tenant dispute – Complainant requesting removal of tenants who have not paid rent since January. Advised this is a civil matter that needs to be addressed through the Landlord Tenants Act.

11:05 am – Brazeau, County RR 85 – Break and Enter – Complainant reporting two tarped outbuildings have been slashed open. Unknown what taken. 

2:23 pm – Drayton Valley, 45 Avenue – Theft of vehicle – Complainant reporting theft of vehicle which had been parked on the street. Several calls made to tow companies. Vehicle had been towed aa per bylaw for snow removal. 

3:38 pm – Drayton Valley, 43 Street – Dispute – Complainant reporting they received a text message threatening to damage fathers property. Dispute over separation of property.

6:22 pm – Brazeau County, Hwy 759 – Traffic Collision- Members called to a report of a collision involving an SUV and a truck. Members attended, minor injuries.

9:45 pm – Drayton Valley,  Pleasantview Mobile Home Park – Suspicious vehicle – Complainant reporting a suspicious white four door car driving around the trailer park taking photos of licence plates. Members attended. Driver was driving around looking for the vehicle that had hit theirs previously. 

11:17 pm – Drayton Valley, 45 Street – Disturbance – Complainant requesting police attendance as male is inside yelling, has been for about an hour. Members attended.  Argument was on the phone with sibling. 

March 14

1:55 am – Drayton Valley, 51 Avenue – Suspicious person – Complainant reporting a suspicious female wearing a hat knocking on the window to Draytons Restaurant. Restaurant is closed.  Member attended and spoke with female who advised they were knocking on the window because someone had smashed a glass bottle outside the door to the restaurant.

6:42 am – Drayton Valley, Holiday In Express – Suspicious female – Complainant reporting that a female entered the public bathroom and locked herself in, will not come out. Female has been in the hotel since 6:00 am, she was yelling and dancing around the breakfast room. Members were en route when advised the female had left and was wearing a black parka and carrying a back pack. Member located female who asked to go to McDonalds. Members provided a courtesy ride.
