Kings sweep Concordia in men’s hockey quarterfinals

The Red Deer College Kings swept the Concordia Thunder two games to none in ACAC quarterfinals playoff action.

The Kings blanked Concordia 5-0 in the series opener Friday at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Jacob Wozney recorded a pair of goals for RDC while Mathieu Lapointe, Chance Longjohn and Scott Ferguson each scored once.

Troy Trombley made 20 saves for the win in net.

The Kings defeated Concordia 6-1 in game two on Saturday. Scott Ferguson and Tanner Butler had two goals each while Ryley Smith and Dylan Thudium added singles.

Trombley turned aside 31 out of 32 shots to earn his second win in a row.

RDC will compete against the MacEwan University Griffins in the ACAC semifinals.
