Local governments come together to renew running track in Stettler
Three local governments have committed up to $370,000 to renew the outdoor running track in Stettler.
On Friday March 1, Clearview Public Schools, the Town of Stettler and the County of Stettler met to announce their commitments to the project.
The upgrades are projected to costs between $407,000 and $425,000. Between the three communities they will pay for up to 90 per cent of the cost. Members of the organization committee will be meeting with communities and service groups to figure out a way to generate the remaining amount.
The running track in Stettler is a legacy from the 1991 Alberta Summer Games. It was originally expected to last 15 years but it has survived double the life it was expected to have.
