Olds College has been approved to offer a new, post-diploma certificate in Agriculture Technology Integration.

The program is designed for students who already have a diploma or degree in either mechanics, agriculture, land environment, technology, engineering, forestry, or be a journeyman agriculture equipment technician.

The certificate will provide students with the opportunity to recognize the connections and interactions between hardware and software that will enable producer’s more uptime in the field.

Students who graduate with the certificate will be able to link emerging technologies with existing farm infrastructure.

“As technology applications on-farm and in agribusiness continue to iterate through multiple versions (both hardware and software), a significant skill gaps exists within the industry when it comes to supporting agriculture producer’s adoption new technology.” says Debbie Thompson, Vice President and Academic Chair of Olds College.

In the past year Olds college has introduced many new ag-tech initiatives as the facility continues to grow and evolve.

Back in June 2018, Olds College Smart Farm was launched and more recently, the Smart Ag Innovation Centre.

With the addition of this certificate the college now has a cutting edge learning environment for students to learn about agricultural technology.

Applications for the new certificate will open October 1, 2019 with the first intake of students starting in September 2020.
