Red Deer County woman charged with husband’s murder

A Red Deer County woman has been charged with murder in the death of her husband.

It was at around 9:30 Wednesday morning that Mounties from Blackfalds and Red Deer responded to a disturbance in Red Deer County.

Police arrived on scene and discovered a deceased male inside a residence.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North attended and led the investigation with assistance from Blackfalds RCMP, Red Deer RCMP and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary. The victim has been identified as Matthew Berresford, 36.

Robin Berresford, 36, has been charged with murder and was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Red Deer provincial court on March 5.

Constable Mike Hibbs with Alberta RCMP, Media Relations Group cant’s say at this time whether the charge is first-degree murder or second-degree, but does confirm the two were married.

RCMP are not seeking any other suspects in relation to this incident.
