Drayton Valley RCMP weekly report: Feb. 21 – 27

February 21

9:24 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a domestic assault that took place at a residence on Industrial Road.  Police attended and arrested the suspect who was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released. 

12:00 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of an erratic, distracted driver on Highway 22. The vehicle was not located. 

1:20 pm – Brazeau County – Complaint of theft from a shop on a property north of town.  Oilfield heater tubes were stolen, 4 pails of diesel oil, and other property were stolen. 

6:12 pm – Brazeau County – Report of a suspicious vehicle, possibly checking lease sites.  Members attended and made extensive patrols of the area, however could not locate the vehicle.  No sites were found to have damage or appeared to have been entered.

8:26 pm – Brazeau County – Report of fire at an oil lease site.  Police attended with the Drayton Valley Fire Department, however it was determined that the fire was intentional and was being monitored by oilfield employees. 

 

February 22

12:38 pm – Brazeau County – Report of an assault, domestic related.  Members determined that no assault took place.

12:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Bicycle stolen from outside the Library on 52 Street.  Unknown serial number, however described as a dark purple TREK 21 speed, older model.

6:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of two suspicious vehicles near the cemetery.  Members attended, the vehicles were not located.

 

February 23

12:00 am – Drayton Valley – Police conducted a vehicle stop for an intersection infraction and it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was impaired.  The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment to provide breath samples and was later released for court.

2:01 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked on private property.  Members attended, determined the vehicle was not stolen and was parked legally.

7:43 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious vehicle off the roadway near 49 Avenue.  Vehicle not reported stolen and was towed.

2:40 pm – Brazeau County – Report of an unknown female walking on Highway 620.  Patrols were made, members were unable to locate the female.

4:49 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a possible impaired driver on 50 Avenue.  Members located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver was determined to be sober and was released.

10:33 pm – Drayton Valley – Police were called to the Legion regarding an unwanted patron, when members attended they were informed the person had left without any issues.

10:52 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a vehicle stunting in the parking lot near Dairy Queen.  Patrols were made, the vehicle was not located.

 

February 24

6:18 am – Brazeau County – Police were called to assist with traffic control for a vehicle that slid into the ditch.  Police assisted until the vehicle was removed and traffic flow could resume normally again.

4:40 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a dangerous driver on 50 Avenue, passing in town, driving excessively fast.  No license plate was obtained.  Members patrolled looking for the vehicle, however it was not located.

6:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of suspicious people/vehicle near Petro Canada south.  Police attended and the vehicle and people were no longer there, however it was determined the vehicle was stolen.  Matter is still under investigation.

8:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious vehicle on 50 Street.  Police attended and could not locate the vehicle.

8:54 pm – Brazeau County – Abandoned vehicle on a lease site, reported to have been there for two days.  Members attended, vehicle was not reported stolen, the owner was a numbered company who was contacted.

10:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of two unknown people walking down a back alley wearing masks near 7/11.  Complainant concerned due to recent thefts in the area. Members attended however the people were not located.

 

February 25

5:13 am – Drayton Valley – Report of an attempted vehicle theft on 54 Avenue.  4 unknown males in a dark coloured 4 door car with a dented rear bumper, attempted to steal the complainants Ford truck from in front of his residence.  The complainant chased them off.  Police attempted to locate the suspect vehicle, however it was not located.

6:29 am – Drayton Valley – Truck stolen from a residence on 54 Street.  The truck had been started and was left running with the keys in the ignition.  The vehicle was recovered by Rocky Mountain House RCMP later in the day.

9:54 am – Brazeau County – Single vehicle collision.  Driver slid off the roadway on Range Road 73.  No injuries.

12:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a lost wallet while at McDonald’s.

4:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Report that overnight someone attempted to steal an outboard motor causing extensive damage to the motor.

5:35 pm – Brazeau County – Report of a tractor on fire.  Police attended to assist the Fire Department, however the fire was already extinguished.  Nothing suspicious.

7:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of shoplifting from Plaza Liquor. 

7:48 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious/unwanted vehicle near Petro Canada south.  Members attended, vehicle located and occupants advised they were not wanted on the property.  They left without further issue.

 

February 26

8:45 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a stolen town garbage can from a residence on 44 Street.

10:35 am – Brazeau County – Locked compound on 56 Avenue broken into overnight. Unknown suspects cut the lock and entered the yard.  Nothing appears to have been stolen.

11:04 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a possible impaired driver on 50 Street.  Patrols were made, however the vehicle was not located.

1:49 pm – Brazeau County – Numerous calls received of a possible physical dispute in Country Style Trailer Park.  Members attended, feuding parties had separated prior to police attendance.  Everyone unwilling to provide statements, no grounds for charges.

5:11 pm – Brazeau County – Suspicious vehicle driving on a lease site with two occupants.  The vehicle was not located by police.

8:43 pm – Drayton Valley – Police were called regarding a male that had assaulted two family members in two separate incidents in a short period of time and stolen one of their vehicles.  The male was located by police, arrested and held for a bail hearing.

10:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious person near the same location where the attempted theft of the outboard motor occurred on February 25.  Police patrolled the area throughout the night, however nobody was located.

 

February 27

1:17 am – Drayton Valley – Attempted theft of vehicle.  Complainant reports that a silver GMC Sierra pulled up near his vehicle and broke into it.  Significant damage caused from punching the ignition and now the vehicle cannot start.  The complainant interrupted the suspects and scared them off and caused damage to the door handle.  Police made extensive patrols and located several similar looking trucks which were stopped, however it was determined they were not related.

7:13 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a possible impaired driver.  Patrols were made, however the vehicle was not located.

7:50 am – Brazeau County – A Brazeau County Peace Officer advised police of a traffic stop with a suspicious person in possession of copper wire on a range road.  Police attended and arrested the male on an unrelated matter.  After investigating, police were unable to determine if the wire had been stolen.  The male was not charged on that matter, however was held for a bail hearing for theft of a tractor that had been reported last week.

8:36 am – Drayton Valley – Report that an apartment foyer door was pried open sometime in the past few days.  The door had been repaired prior to being reported and no suspects were identified.  It was being reported for information purposes.

11:28 am – Drayton Valley – Report of a break and enter to a business on Industrial Road.  Police are waiting for a list of property that was stolen.

12:23 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a possible case of identity theft/fraud at a local business.  An unknown male ordered several items over the phone and provided a credit card, however when the business called the credit card owner it was determined to be an unauthorized use of the card.  When the suspect arrived to pick up the items police were called, however the suspect fled prior to police arriving.

1:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint received of unwanted communication between two parties regarding a civil court process.  Police spoke with everyone involved who agreed to cease communication and to let the court process proceed accordingly.

3:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Police were called to an abandoned vehicle at a business.  Members attended and determined the truck was stolen out of Edmonton.  The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle used in the attempted theft of truck earlier in the day.

10:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of suspicious people/vehicle in the Legion parking lot.  Police attended and patrolled the area, no people or vehicles were found.
