RDC launches Executive Education series

Feb 28, 2019 | 9:41 AM

Red Deer College has launched of new series of Executive Education courses.

“As we transition to a university, RDC is focused on expanding real-world education and training to support economic growth in our region and to increase opportunities for our learners,” says Dr. Paulette Hanna, RDC Vice President Academic. “Along with new degrees, diplomas and certificates, we are committed to providing pathways that facilitate life-long learning and professional development.”

The series will deliver four workshops annually and is designed to increase leadership capacity in the region, college officials say.

Designed specifically for senior leaders, each workshop will feature internationally recognized facilitators and will include practical strategies that can be put into practice immediately. The workshop topics will be based on current and emerging needs in the business world, and participants will learn cutting-edge information that will help them in their professions, while also enabling them to lead people more effectively.

RDC says the Donald School of Business and their Advisory Committee of business leaders played an important role in recommending topics for this series to explore.

“The Donald School of Business is thrilled to be a part of bringing internationally recognized instructors to Red Deer College to offer premium learning experiences and complement the expertise of our faculty,” says Darcy Mykytyshyn, Dean of the Donald School of Business. “As we look to develop our own business degrees and post-diploma certificates, the Executive Education series brings diversity to our programming and establishes more pathways for professionals right here in central Alberta.”

The opportunity to take these high-level workshops locally will provide an additional benefit for participants. “Working closely with businesses, we have responded to the need of central Albertans who were spending extra travel time and costs to travel around North America for world-class workshops,” says Iaian Park with RDC’s Corporate Training. “They can now gain an immediate return on their investment without the additional costs of travel.”

The first Executive Education workshop, Coaching and Mentoring for Peak Performance, will take place April 2 and 3, and the second workshop, Performance Management, will take place May 28 and 29.

Additional information, including a profile on instructor, Cy Charney, is available on RDC’s website.
