RDC Kings guard Spencer Klassen was recognized for his spectacular season with an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Basketball South All-Conference team selection on Wednesday, February 27.

The Bachelor of Education Elementary student was a leader on the Kings, and in the ACAC all season. Klassen helped guide the RDC Kings to second place in the south (13-8) after an incredible eight consecutive victories to finish the regular season, earning a spot in the postseason.

The fourth-year student-athlete from Red Deer finished first in the league with 25.6 points per game. He successfully connected on 83.8 per cent of his free-throws, 47 per cent from the field and 39.2 per cent from beyond the three-point arc. In 20 conference games, Klassen remarkably scored 30 or more points in ten of them.

Kings Head Coach Clayton Pottinger has been impressed with Klassen’s development beyond the hardwood. “We had high expectations for Spencer this season and he exceeded them,” Pottinger said. “He has a tremendous work ethic. Last summer, he really worked on his game and has become a great leader, on and off the court.”
