Opening day matchups set for CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship

Opening day matchups have been set as Red Deer College get set to host the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, March 7 to 9.

The host Red Deer College Kings and provincial champion Keyano College Huskies will represent the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). 

The Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners will represent the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST).

The Fanshawe Falcons finished their second consecutive undefeated Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) season and are representing the conference along with the Humber Hawks.

The top-ranked Holland Hurricanes represent Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA), while the five-time conference champion Limoilou Titans and the Griffons de l’Outaouais are representing the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ).

Opening day matches on Thursday, March 7 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre include:

Match 1: Fanshawe Falcons vs. Holland Hurricanes 1:00 p.m.

Match 2: Keyano College Huskies vs. Griffons de l’Outaouais 3:00 p.m.

Match 3: Titans de Limoilou vs. Red Deer College Kings 6:00 p.m.

Match 4: VIU Mariners vs. Humber Hawks 8:00 p.m.

The Red Deer College Kings have won 13 CCAA gold medals and the Limoilou Titans have won 11 times. 

At the RDC Kings Volleyball Christmas Tournament this past December, the Fanshawe Falcons, Keyano College Huskies, Limoilou Titans and VIU Mariners competed over three days in non-conference action. In that tournament, RDC and Fanshawe finished 3-1, Limoilou and VIU went 2-2, and Keyano College dropped all four matches (0-4). Back on December 30, the Red Deer College Kings swept the Limoilou Titans.
