Former Red Deer teacher facing child sex charges due in court next month

The case for a former Red Deer teacher facing charges for child sex-related offences is due back in court next month.

An agent for the lawyer for Norman Joseph Howes appeared briefly in Red Deer provincial court on Wednesday. The case has been put over to March 20.

Howes is charged with five counts including sexual counsel of a child, sexual exploitation, luring a child under 18 years of age, making/printing/distributing child pornography, and sexual contact with a child.

The 60-year-old was a teacher at Westpark Middle School. He is no longer employed there.

Court documents indicate there are three complainants relating to the case.
