Red Deer Transit launches MyBus mobile site ahead of Winter Games

Feb 12, 2019 | 10:11 AM

Red Deer Transit has introduced a new mobile-friendly website called “MyBus” to assist people travelling around town during the Canada Winter Games from Feb. 15 – Mar. 3.

“MyBus was launched in time for the 2019 Canada Winter Games to help residents and visitors use transit to get to and from the Games venues quickly and easily,” says Transit Manager, George Penny in a press release. “Users just have to enter their location and destination, and the program will provide step-by-step navigation instructions.”

The site works on all mobile devices and lays out the entire length of a bus route onto a map.

It uses GPS tracking to show where each bus is going in real time.

The program also displays the latest bus routes and schedules, and shows any disruptions that may affect travel.

Penny explains the convenience of this system.

“We are excited to incorporate these new technologies into our transit fleet and bring state of the art systems to Red Deer that makes taking transit a convenient option to get around our city.”

City officials say other enhancements introduced to the transit system include onboard audio and visual stop announcements and digital signs at key stops to display up-to-date arrival times.

“MyBus” is available online at reddeer.ca/mybus.
